The Basso Profundo wind chime from Music of the Spheres®, Inc. is 168" long (14 feet) from the knot to the wind catcher. It uses 5" diameter tubing and weighs 200 pounds.
This is an exceptionally huge chime. Once struck, it has a sustain that goes on for a remarkably long time. Deep voiced and quite heavy, please be sure you have a support capable of holding 200 pounds.
These wind chimes sound beautiful and can be mixed using selected tunings and sizes that will overlap and harmonize. We recommend that when you mix tunings, you do so with either the same size or with only one step in-between. For instance, if you're getting a Contra Bass wind chime as part of an ensemble, you would either get a second Basso Profundo, or a Contra Bass.
A musical palindrome, the Quartal scale is based on intervals of fourths and fifths. Its smooth and serene sound captivated American composers, notably Aaron Copland and Paul Hindemith, in the early twentieth century.
